TALL SHIPS KICK OFF MARINE HERITAGE FESTIVAL IN KINCARDINE

The tall ships are back in Kincardine for another year of Marine Heritage! Stormy weather and mechanical problems forced the TS Playfair and the STV Pathfinder into Kincardine harbour in the summer of 2011. Volunteer Peter Humble spoke to myFM news about the history of the event.

GREAT TOURISM WEEKEND FOR KINCARDINE

It's a busy weekend for Kincardine Tourism, with the Marine Festival and Mass Band Gathering overlapping. Tourism Manager Kelly McDonald tells myFM her department has been busy preparing. McDonald says Ontario's Scottish Destination is known for its frugal attractions.

The festival runs from August 26th to the 28th, and most of the events are held in the Zurich core located on Main Street, Victoria Lane, and Goshen Street. The festival is a free admission family friendly event.

SAUGEEN SHORES EXTENDING WATER ALONG CONCESSION SIX?

The parched August conditions the Lake Huron Shoreline has been experiencing are posing a particular problem for some Saugeen Shores residents. Those whose water is furnished from shallow wells on their properties along Concession Six are finding the supply is drying up.

The annual arrival of tall ships Pathfinder and Playfair has become such an expected event, Kincardine has built a Marine Festival around it. This year Mother Nature cast a dark cloud over tradition, with the tornadic system crossing Lake Huron from Indiana.
