A 67-year-old man from Bluewater is facing a number of criminal and traffic offences following a traffic stop.

O-P-P say an officer pulled over a utility vehicle traveling westbound on Short Horn Road near Airport Line on Wednesday after the driver allegedly went through a stop sign.

Huron County OPP say after receiving a ticket the driver then picked up a rock and threw it at the officer, striking the officer in the chest.

Geert Hosper of Bluewater is to appear in Goderich court on July 10th facing charges that include assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, and disobeying a stop sign.

The police officer was treated at hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
