A local kid helped to make a big difference yesterday (Sunday, September 10th) at the Goderich Kidney Walk, raising $11, 275 with some pledges still coming in.

12-year-old Christopher Pennington was this year's ambassador and has led 'Christopher's Crew' for the past 3 years. He was joined at the event by Goderich Mayor Kevin Morrison, MP Ben Lobb and MPP Lisa Thompson who attended to show their support.

myFM had the chance to speak to Christopher's mother Cathy Pennington. She says she is extremely proud of her son, who once again surpassed his fundraising goal. This year's goal was $8000.

In total, Pennington and his supporters have raised over $30, 000 in 3 years. His mother could not be more proud!

One in 10 Canadians lives with kidney disease. The 12-year-old was diagnosed with kidney disease in 2015, but has since devoted his time to educating others about it, and fundraising to help find a cure.
