SAUGEEN SHORE'S TRAIN STATION A HOT TOPIC AT COUNCIL LAST NIGHT
6/12/2018 7:58:28 AM

Community members came to show their support for the Saugeen Shore's train station that's been a popular tourist destination for 30 years. A presentation was made by one supporter, John Mann, at least night's (Monday) full council meeting, who pleaded council try to work out a lease with the station's owner, Andy Hess. The delegation turned into a not so peaceful protest, however, when Mann was asked to take a seat and no longer say any comments to council as they discussed the issue. Mann declined and Mayor Mike Smith ordered a recess and upon resuming the meeting, told Mann he was finished with this topic. MyFM was able to get a comment from John Mann, who was disapointed in how the meeting transpired.

Mayor Smith says council is open to discussing the future of the station with the owner.

Smith says there is still time left to make sure the train is up and running this summer, so not all hope is lost.
