UNIFOR PRESIDENT SPEAKS OUT ABOUT COMPASS MINERALS STRIKE IN GODERICH

The Situation at Compass Minerals keeps escalating and appears to have no end in sight. Recently, the close to 350 compass workers on strike have started to block the road into the Mine to try and prevent buses full of temporary workers from entering the site Gary Lynch is the President of Unifor 16-0 says while they Unifor members are committed to the strike, after several months, it's starting to take its toll.

    Lynch emphasized that this is not about money, but rather the working conditions at the mine Unifor alleges the company has been demanding concessions that include mandatory overtime, reduced benefits, and a weakening of contracting-out provisions. Lynch adds that the community support has been amazing, and they couldn't keep up their efforts without the support of Huron and Bruce residents.
