MANY CHANGES TO THE EDUCATION SYSTEM UNDER NEWLY ELECTED PC'S

A tough break for schools across the province as the newly elected PC government is cracking down on spending when it comes to education. It was most recently announced that indigenous programs for students in kindergarten have been cancelled along with 2 other summer initiatives. Newly appointed Minister of Education and Huron Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson was unable to be reached at this time, but reports say the move was done unilaterally with no direction from her. These newly announced cuts have teachers and the school boards across the province worried. Last week the PC's announced they were doing away with the cap and trade program which would have seen 100-million dollars go into making schools more energy efficient. Yesterday Thompson and the PC's announced that kids going back to school in September will be taught the old sex ed curriculum, which pre-dates same sex marriage.
