South Bruce OPP has launched its Pocket Your Keys Campaign to help reduce the theft of vehicles and thefts of goods from vehicles. So far this year, 47 vehicles have been reported stolen to the OPP. In 2017, there were 106 stolen vehicles reported to the police. Numbers are on the rise provincially as well, with incidents happening more commonly in rural and agricultural communities in southwestern Ontario. In over 50 per cent of the cases, the thefts are preventable. This means that the vehicle was left unlocked, keys were inside, or the vehicle was left running.
