A local card player has a shot at making his name known around the world.
11-year-old Spencer Tenhag has secured a spot in the 2019 Yu-Gi-Oh card game world championship qualifiers.
Tenhag secured the qualifying chance after coming out in the top 6 at a national championship in Niagara Falls.
Tenhag says this is his first big win in the world of Yu-Gi-Oh.
The Niagara Falls event drew in over 750 people.
Yu-Gi-Oh is a strategy card game that was released in 1999 and still has a solid base of players who collect cards and play either socially or competitively.
Tenhag adds that he doesn’t know the location of the World qualifiers, but know that it takes place next July.
