Bluewater’s new council was sworn in December 3rd at the Stanley Complex in Varna.
Bluewater councilors and new Mayor all took the oath of office and held their first committee of the whole meeting.
This term, the council is filled with all men, a change from the previous council which had 7 men and 2 women.
Mayor of Bluewater Paul Klopp says that council represents what voters wanted, and that it’s the diversity of ideas that matters most.
One of the first items that the council took action on was voting to block any recreational cannabis retailers from coming to Bluewater.
Klopp says they won’t allow retailers into the rural community unless there is enough public demand from residents.
The motion is set to be ratified during the next council meeting in the new year.
