Bluewater Deputy Mayor Jim Fergusson isn’t thrilled with council’s decision to direct staff to develop a 3P agreement with Bayfield Facilities Initiative Team for the operation of the Bayfield Arena.
Fergusson raised concerns during the council meeting about the lack of experience BFIT and the municipality has with Public-private partnership, or 3P, agreements.
He said he doesn’t doubt BFIT’s abilities, because they provide quality service. He said council only has one shot at getting the Bayfield Arena right, and felt a more experienced third-party would help.
A 3P agreement is a cooperative arrangement between two or more public and private sectors.
The next step Fergusson says is a staff report about the agreement and a work plan moving forward.
