Just a reminder to all drivers that school is back in session this beginning Monday which means school buses will be back on the roadways.
Drivers are reminded to never pass a stopped school bus with its upper red lights flashing.
Anyone who does will be fined anywhere between $400 and $2000 dollars and six demerit points for a first offense, and each offense afterward will see fines range from $1000 to $4000 dollars, six demerit points and possible jail time.
Vehicle owners can be charged if their vehicle does pass a stopped school bus even if they were not driving.
Every school day in Ontario close to 800 thousand students are transported to and from school on school buses.
While rare when a school bus fatality does occur it is most likely to happen when a student is getting on or off the bus.
